Laundry Rooms

Folding counters, hanging rods, hampers and cabinetry that turn a utility room into one of the most efficient rooms in the house.

Can you do this in my room?

We build laundry rooms as furniture, not as a kit, scribed to your walls, matched to your trim and finished in furniture-grade melamine. Pull-out hampers and detergent storage can be part of it.

Nothing is manufactured until you have seen it drawn. You approve the layout, the finishes and the price first, so the only surprise is how much room you get back.

What's possible

Available Features

  • Folding counters and hanging rods
  • Pull-out hampers and detergent storage
  • Upper cabinetry and open shelving
  • Built-in pull-out or wall-mounted drying racks
  • Tall utility cabinets for brooms, mops, vacuums and ironing boards
  • Stacked and over-appliance storage for compact laundry nooks
  • Easy-clean, moisture-resistant surfaces

How we design laundry rooms

Laundry design comes down to three surfaces: somewhere to sort, somewhere to fold, and somewhere to hang. Sorting is handled with pull-out hampers built into a base cabinet so the piles are off the floor. Folding wants a continuous counter, over front-loaders where the machines allow it, or a wall-mounted counter beside a top-loader. Hanging is a rod run above the counter, which is what keeps shirts out of the dryer and off the backs of dining chairs.

Utilities dictate the rest. Water lines, dryer vents, shutoff valves and the electrical panel all need to stay accessible, so cabinets get notched or shortened around them rather than built over them. Your designer photographs and measures these during the in-home visit and they appear in the drawings you approve.

Surfaces are chosen for a damp room: moisture-resistant, easy-clean melamine on cabinet boxes and counters, with hardware that tolerates humidity. Everything is manufactured at our Downingtown facility and installed by our own crew.

Laundry Rooms questions, answered

How much does a custom laundry room cost?

Laundry rooms are quoted per linear foot across three levels: Essential $411, Standard $560 and Premium $739 per foot. Counters, pull-out hampers and upper cabinetry each add linear footage, so a compact laundry closet and a full laundry room land in very different places within the range.

Can you build a folding counter over my washer and dryer?

Over front-loaders, usually yes. Top-loading machines need the lid clear, so in those rooms we run the folding counter on an adjacent wall instead. Either way there is a rod above the counter, which is what keeps shirts out of the dryer.

What happens around the water lines and dryer vent?

They stay accessible. Cabinets are notched or shortened around shutoff valves, vents and panels rather than built over them. Your designer photographs and measures these during the in-home visit and they appear on the drawings you approve.

Do the finishes handle humidity?

We specify moisture-resistant, easy-clean melamine on cabinet boxes and counters, with hardware chosen for a damp room. Everything is built at our Downingtown facility and installed by our own crew.
