Materials & finishes
Custom Closet Materials & Finishes
Furniture-grade, top to bottom. Every system is built from 3/4-inch furniture-grade melamine, with the option to mix in wood, because a closet you open twice a day should be built like the furniture in your living room.

Melamine Panels
All of our shelving is built from 3/4-inch furniture-grade melamine, in colors ranging from solid whites and grays to stainless steel and textured wood-grains.

Wood & Melamine Mixed
Because every piece is fully customizable, you can mix and match wood and melamine for a high-end look without the high-end cost.

Door & Drawer Faces
Shaker and raised-panel door and drawer faces, one-piece fronts, and the Super Gloss and Soft Touch collections for a flat slab look.

Drawer Boxes & Hardware
White birch dovetail-joint drawer boxes with full-extension slides, plus polished chrome, satin nickel and oil-rubbed bronze hardware and chrome oval hanging rods.

Accessories
The hardware that makes a closet work.
Every system is finished with the accessories you'll actually use, in polished chrome, satin nickel and oil-rubbed bronze.

Baskets
Pull-out baskets and shelves that keep folded pieces visible instead of buried.

Valet Rods
A place to hang tomorrow's outfit, standard or Synergy profile.

Profile Styles
The profile is what you see every day. These are the styles we build most often, and profiles can also be matched to existing millwork. Every style is available across the closed-cabinetry price levels.

Slab
A clean, unframed front with no profile at all, the basis of the Super Gloss, Soft Touch and Economy collections.

Slim Shaker
A shaker frame narrowed to a single thin line around a flat center, so the front reads almost flush while keeping the warmth of a framed door. The usual choice when a room is modern but a completely flat front feels too plain.

Shaker
A solid shaker frame with a flat center panel. The safest choice when the rest of the house is transitional.

Manchester Raised Panel
A framed front with a center panel raised toward the room, so light catches its edges instead of falling flat. It belongs in rooms where the doors and trim elsewhere are traditional, and it can be matched to existing millwork.

5-Piece
A framed five-piece front with a recessed center panel, the most traditional profile we offer.

Custom Profiles
Profiles can be matched to existing doors or trim in the house. Bring a photo or a sample and a designer will work from it.

These are a small sampling of the choices available. When you meet with a Diplomat designer they review every option with you, the possibilities are close to endless.
How we choose
Why we build with these materials
Closet systems fail in predictable places: shelves bow in the middle, drawer bottoms drop, edge banding peels at the corner you grab every morning, and a finish that looked crisp on a display goes yellow above a radiator. Every material on this page was selected because it survives those specific failures, not because it photographs well.
Panels are 3/4-inch furniture-grade melamine, chosen because it resists warping, cracking and delamination in everyday use. Drawer boxes are white birch with dovetail joints and full-extension slides, and hanging sections use chrome oval rods and rod cups sized to the load they will actually carry, a coat closet and a handbag shelf are not the same problem.
Because we manufacture in our own Downingtown facility, the finish you approve on a sample is cut from the same stock that goes into your home, and a matching panel can be produced years later if you extend the system or a room changes purpose. That is the practical difference between owning the shop and ordering from a catalog.
