Can you do this in my room?

Every walk-in closet we build starts with an in-home measurement and an inventory of what has to fit, hanging, folded, shoes and bags, before a single shelf height is drawn. Typically with center islands with drawers for accessories. The consultation is free.

Nothing is manufactured until you have seen it drawn. You approve the layout, the finishes and the price first, so the only surprise is how much room you get back.

How we design walk-in closets

A walk-in is the one closet where the layout is genuinely open-ended, so the design starts with an inventory rather than a drawing. Your designer counts long-hang pieces, folded stacks, shoes and bags, then divides the walls accordingly, long hang on the run with the most vertical clearance, double hang where the ceiling drops, drawers where you naturally stand to get dressed. It is common for a room that felt full to end up with a third of its hanging space returned once the rods stop running wall to wall at a single height.

The island is the piece most people ask about, and it is also the piece most often cut. It needs roughly three feet of clear walking space on every side to be comfortable; below that we switch to a shallow bank of drawers along one wall, which stores the same jewelry, watches and folded knits without making the room feel tight. Lighting is decided at the same time, LED strips under shelves read far better on shoe and handbag displays than a single ceiling fixture, and the wiring has to be planned before manufacturing rather than added later.

Everything is drawn in 2D and 3D before anything is built, so you approve the exact shelf heights, drawer counts and finishes. Manufacturing then happens at our Downingtown, PA facility and our own installers set the system, the same people every step, which is why field changes get resolved on the spot instead of scheduled for a return trip.

Walk-In Closets questions, answered

How much does a custom walk-in closet cost?

Walk-ins are quoted per linear foot across five levels: Essential $130, Organized $260, Premium $767, Luxury $1,075 and Signature $1,155 per foot. A walk-in usually has three walls of storage rather than one, so linear footage, not room square footage, is what drives the number. Islands, lighting and drawer banks move it within the range, and your designer gives you a fixed price after measuring.

How much space do I need for a closet island?

Plan on about three feet of clear walking space on every side of the island. Below that the room feels tight and drawers cannot open fully. In narrower walk-ins we swap the island for a shallow drawer bank along one wall, which stores the same jewelry, watches and folded knits without stealing the walkway.

Can you add lighting to a walk-in closet?

Yes. LED strip lighting under shelves and inside hanging sections shows shoes, bags and dark clothing far better than a single ceiling fixture. Because the wiring runs inside the system, lighting has to be decided before manufacturing rather than added afterward, so bring it up at your consultation.

Will I see the walk-in design before you build it?

Always. You approve 2D and 3D renderings showing exact shelf heights, rod placement, drawer counts and finishes. Nothing goes into production at our Downingtown facility until those drawings are signed off.
