Are you giving your closet a color makeover? Consider selecting one of 2024’s trendiest colors.
Last year, we shared the trending closet colors of 2023, including luxurious cream, purple, gold, and white. This year, the most popular closet colors are heavily influenced by the vibrant tones of the natural world, including peach, sky blue, olive green, and charcoal.
Peach Fuzz
Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2024 is a smooth, gentle color known as Peach Fuzz. In a bedroom closet, it provides a warm glow to set off the beauty of your clothing. Your kitchen pantry could also benefit from a coat of this appetizing color.
Benjamin Moore’s Fresh Peach and Valspar’s Pretty in Peach are very close to the softness of Pantone’s Peach Fuzz. A brighter, more vibrant option is Benjamin Moore’s Paradise Peach.
Sherwin-Williams’ Persimmon is a slightly darker version with a rich tangerine tone. For a lighter peach that’s almost beige, try Behr’s Life is a Peach.
Cool Blues
Blue is often considered America’s most popular home decorating color, although its popularity recently waned somewhat due to dominant beige and gray tones in home decorating. If you love blue – and science says you probably do – you’ll be glad to know it’s making a comeback in wall paint preferences.
Top color experts are predicting that 2024 will be The Year of Blue. It’s a lovely color for a closet, pantry, or storage area, and creates a crisp and calming look.
New mid-tone blues for 2024 include Benjamin Moore’s Blue Nova, Minwax’s Bay Blue, and Krylon’s Color of the Year, Bluebird. There’s also Behr’s Explorer Blue, which is similar to the enduringly popular Tiffany Blue.
For a trendy robin’s egg blue, try C2’s Thermal. Sherwin-Williams’ Upward is denim blue with a gray undertone. Another option is Valspar’s Color of the Year, Renew Blue, which is a soothingly light aqua blue-green.
Olive Green
Pulling inspiration from botanical prints and the natural world, olive green is seeing a new surge in popularity. Inside your closet, this color evokes feelings of ecological wellness and tasteful sophistication.
For a dark version of olive green, try Ironside, a muted olive that currently holds the title of Dutch Boy’s One-Coat Color of the Year. Other olive options include Behr’s Truly Olive, Valspar’s Dusty Olive, or Sherwin-Williams’ Relentless Olive.
If these colors feel a bit too dark to you, try Benjamin Moore’s lighter-toned Spanish Olive. Another light olive option is Viridis, a designer paint color from Graham & Brown.
Soft Charcoal Black
Behr’s Color of the Year for 2024 is Cracked Pepper, a soft black with hints of dusky charcoal. Painted with a matte finish inside a bedroom closet, this color sets off your wardrobe and evokes high-end luxury.
Sherwin-Williams makes a similar color, Tricorn Black, which is designed to complement classic white. Another possibility is Benjamin Moore’s Kendall Charcoal, which is a dark gray approaching black but slightly lighter and less serious.
